Slip Rentals

Rent a slip for your vessel at the Berkeley Marina and enjoy convenient access to the San Francisco Bay.

Monthly slip holders at the Berkeley Marina enjoy direct access to the Bay and other amenities and advantages. Learn more about the application process and fees to become a monthly slip holder. A limited number of berths are also available to live aboard your vessel; submit an application to join the live-aboard waitlist.

Apply to become a monthly slip holder

Contact the Marina Office at marina@berkeleyca.gov or (510) 981-6740 to confirm availability. In order to become a monthly slip holder, you will need to gather the documents below:

  • Completed Berth Rental Application
  • Valid Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Proof of current registration/ documentation
  • Insurance, complete with the following coverage and endorsements:
    • Minimum 300,000 Watercraft Liability or Protection and Indemnity (P&I)
    • Wreckage Removal
    • Fuel Spill Liability
    • City of Berkeley listed as additional insured
  • Proof of residence

Bring the documents listed above to the Marina Office to apply. 

Pricing for monthly slip holders

Pricing for monthly slip fees are based on the length of the vessel. Consult the chart below for details:

Day visitor (free up to 4 hours)

Day visitors can tie up at the Berkeley Marina for free for up to four hours Monday-Saturday 8am-4pm. Please give us a call to schedule a time. We can be reached at 510-981-6740. 

Living aboard your vessel

To live on your vessel, you must have a live-aboard permit and pay a $220 monthly live-aboard fee (in addition to the monthly slip fees). Check in with the office for availability. You can submit an application to be added to the live-aboard waitlist.

To apply to be added to the live-aboard waitlist, please gather the documents below:

  • Completed Berkeley Marina Liveaboard Application
  • Current vessel registration or USCG documentation for vessel to be berthed
  • Copy of current valid California Boater’s Card (or proof of completed class)
  • Copy of Driver’s License or other officially recognized form of identification of vessel owner/applicant
  • Valid current vessel insurance certificate that must specifically include the following coverages either on the Declarations Page or within the Policy: General Liability Insurance coverage with a minimum limit of $300,000 with coverages for:
    • Protection & Indemnity (“P&I”) or Watercraft Liability coverage
    • Wreck Removal coverage (cost recovery for salvage/wreckage)
    • Pollution coverage (cost recovery for oil/fuel spill and pollution control)
    • Proof of Insurance MUST state full time liveaboard usage is not excluded
    • Endorsement Certificate (not due until time of move in) naming the City of Berkeley as “Additional Insured” as follows: The City of Berkeley, its officers, agents, volunteers, and employees are named as additional insureds. Location: Berkeley Marina, 201 University Ave., Berkeley, CA 94710

Submit the documents above to the Marina Office in person or by email to marina@berkeleyca.gov. Marina staff will contact you if you are selected from the waitlist for a live-aboard berth.
