Estimate Permit Fees
Calculate estimated building permit fees for your project, and find information about additional fees that may apply.
Building permit fees are based on the valuation of the project. The valuation includes the total value of all construction work as well as all finish work, painting, roofing, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, elevators, fire extinguishing systems, and any other permanent equipment.

Fees not included in the estimator tool:
- Plumbing, mechanical, or electrical permit fees.
- Land use permit fees: Call (510) 981-7410 for information about these fees, or read the Land Use Planning Fee schedule.
- BUSD new developer fees: Find information about these fees on BUSD’s website.
- Other agency fees: Other fees may apply depending on the scope of the project and will be determined after you submit your application.
